Market wrap: Banking sector pulls VN-Index to eighth straight gain

On Tuesday, the strong performance of the banking sector helped the VN-Index to close up by a tenth of a percent and record its eighth straight positive session.

* Banks VPB (+2.4%), BID (+1.1%), TPB (+3.8%), SHB (+3.3%), TCB (+1.2%) and STB (+1.6%) were among the top contributors to the day’s small gain.

* NLG (+3.6%) has surged 18.5% over the last six trading days. Conversely, fellow real estate tickers VRE (-1.2%) and NVL (-1.9%) were down for the day.

* Retailer MWG (-1.2%) has decreased 2.8% in the past two sessions.
