Market wrap: VN-Index tumbles 2.9%

The VN-Index tumbled 2.9% on Monday, plunging to a six-week low as 125 tickers hit the daily trading floor with investors selling off shares throughout all sectors following last week’s news regarding the cancelation of a stake sale by the FLC chairman due to trading violations and the failure by the winner of a high-profile land auction in HCMC to complete the transaction.

*  VHM (-3.8%) was the leading contributor to the day’s loss. Fellow Vingroup subsidiary VRE (-7.0%) nosedived to the trading floor. Parent company VIC (-1.9%) also dropped.

*  Industrial real estate players GVR (-6.9%), BCM (-7.0%) and KBC (-6.9%) plunged.

*  Most banks were down, led by STB (-6.9%) and TCB (-2.3%). On the other hand, VCB (+3.4%) increased for its fourth consecutive session and was the day’s top contributing gainer.

*  Securities brokerages SSI (-7.0%), VND (-6.9%), HCM (-6.9%) and VCI (-6.9%) all fell to the trading floor
