Market wrap: VN-Index trades sideways, falls 3.6% on week

The VN-Index traded sideways on Friday, edging down by less than a tenth of a percent as investors remained cautious following the 3.2% plunge on Wednesday. For the week, the VN-Index decreased 3.6%. 

* GAS was the day’s top contributing decliner. Meanwhile, petroleum distributor PLX (+3.0%) ended a four-day losing streak. 

* There was variation in the banking sector. SSB (-4.9%), TCB (-3.2%), ACB (-2.0%), MBB (-1.8%) all dropped; however, VCB (+2.6%), VIB (+3.0%) and OCB (+3.2%) were among the day’s leading contributing gainers. 

* MWG (-4.2%) fell, putting an end to its eight-session winning streak. 

* Airlines HVN (-5.3%) and VJC (-2.6%) fell 12.1% and 6.2%, respectively, over the last three days.
