Market wrap: VN-Index snaps three-week winning streak
The VN-Index plummeted on Friday afternoon to close down by 1.2% with trading turnover on HOSE jumping to a record USD1.96bn as the market was dragged down by investor concerns over the resurgence of COVID-19 in some areas. For the week, the VN-Index dropped 1.4%, snapping a streak of three straight positive weeks.
* GAS (-6.8%) was the top contributor to the day’s loss and has fallen 9.7% over the last two days. In addition, petroleum distributor PLX (-2.6%) sank for the second straight day.
* HPG (-3.9%) plunged 12.1% for the week.
* Industrial real estate players GVR (-5.4%), BCM (-3.7%) and KBC (-6.5%) were down.
* Airline HVN (-6.9%) dropped to the daily trading floor.
* Banks were up across the board, led by HDB (+6.9%), VPB (+2.3%), CTG (+2.0%), TCB (+1.5%), ACB (+2.9%), VIB (+3.2%), EIB (+3.7%) and MSB (+3.4%).
