Market wrap: VN-Index sinks to four-week low on COVID-19 worries 

The VN-Index sank to a four-week low on Monday, closing down by 2.3% as investors continued to be concerned with the surge in COVID-19 cases and extremely strict social distancing measures implemented in several cities throughout Vietnam. 

  • The banking sector weighed heavily on the VN-Index, led by VCB (-2.8%), TCB (-3.5%), MBB (-4.3%), BID (-3.0%), VPB (-3.0%) and ACB (-4.8%). 
  • GVR (-5.9%) has plummeted 11.9% in the last two trading sessions. 
  • MSN (-5.1%) dropped to its lowest share price since July 29. 
  • Real estate developer NVL (+1.2%) was the day’s top contributing gainer.
