Market wrap: VN-Index sinks in afternoon trading 


After experiencing a positive morning session, the VN-Index dropped in afternoon trading on Thursday to ultimately close down by three tenths of a percent as trading turnover on HOSE dropped to a two-month low of USD812.6bn. 


* VCB (-1.7%) was the top contributor to the day’s loss as it slumped to its lowest share price since January 12. Fellow banks TCB (-1.5%), BID (-1.0%) and TPB (-2.4%) were also among the day’s top contributing laggards. 


* In the real estate sector, VHM (-1.1%) and its parent company VIC (-0.6%) both fell. In addition, NVL (-1.7%) and DIG (-6.3%) declined. 


* Dairy manufacturer VNM (-1.2%) has dropped in six out of the past seven trading sessions. 


* DGC (+7.0%) soared to the daily trading ceiling for the second day in a row. 


* Fertilizer producers DPM (+6.2%) and DCM (+7.0%) both posted strong gains.
