Market wrap: VN-Index rises in last session of 2021, finishes year up 35.7%

The VN-Index ended 2021 on a high note, closing up by eight tenths of a percent on Friday as investors poured money into bank tickers. Notably, the VN-Index concluded the year up 35.7%. For the week and the month of December, the VN-Index gained 1.4% and 1.3%, respectively.

* Banking stocks surged across the board, led by BID (+4.8%), VIB (+6.9%), SHB (+4.2%), TCB (+1.4%), STB (+3.3%) and VPB (+1.1%).

* Real estate developer NVL (+5.4%) posted its biggest daily increase in 11 months.

* GEX (+7.0%) soared to the daily trading ceiling and finished the week up 10.2%.

* On the negative side, GAS (-0.8%) and VRE (-1.3%) were the day’s top two contributing laggards.
