Market wrap: VN-Index recovers in afternoon to eke out small gain 

After being down more than 2% on Tuesday morning, the VN-Index recovered in afternoon trading to close up by a tenth of a percent. 

* VCB (+1.6%) climbed for the second day in a row and was the top contributor to the day’s gain. However, several other banks fell, including BID (-1.7%), TPB (-3.6%), EIB (-3.0%), MBB (-1.1%), SHB (-2.8%) and ACB (-1.4%). 

* In the energy sector, PLX (+4.0%) and POW (+6.9%) have jumped 7.4% and 9.3% over the last two days, respectively. 

* Chemical manufacturer DGC (+5.8%) extended its winning streak to seven sessions. 

* DXG (-6.9%) has tumbled 23.2% since May 31. In addition, fellow real estate player VHM (-1.1%) was the day’s top contributing laggard.
