Market wrap: VN-Index plunges, approaches 900 points

The VN-Index neared the 900-point mark on Tuesday afternoon, but a rally at the end of trading ultimately led to the index finishing the day down 3.1% to close at 911.90 — its lowest level since October 2, 2020 — as 200 tickers plunged to the daily trading floor.

* Numerous banks nosedived, led by BID (-7.0%), VPB (-6.7%), TCB (-6.8%) and MBB (-6.9%).

* SAB (-4.4%) dropped following its 5.7% increase over the previous two sessions.

* FPT (-6.9%) and MWG (-6.9%) both fell to the trading floor.

* NVL (-6.9%) tumbled to the trading floor for the ninth consecutive trading day.

* On the positive side, VIC (+3.6%) and HPG (+2.5%) were the day’s top two contributing gainers.
