Market wrap: VN-Index jumps 3.5%, moves above 1,000 points

On Monday, the VN-Index jumped 3.5% to close at a four-week high of 1,005.69 as investor sentiment improved on hopes of a market recovery. 

* Several banks experienced strong gains, including VCB (+4.9%), CTG (+5.8%), TCB (+7.0%), MBB (+6.2%) and VPB (+3.9%). Meanwhile, BID (-1.2%) was the day’s top contributing laggard. 

* GAS (+7.0%) surged to the daily trading ceiling, snapping a six-session losing streak. 

* Steelmaker HPG (+6.9%) has soared 18.5% over the last three trading days. 

* VHM (+6.8%) and VRE (+6.9%) both hit the trading ceiling, but their parent company VIC finished the day unchanged.
