Market wrap: VN-Index jumps 2.8% with 48 stocks hitting ceiling

On Wednesday, the VN-Index climbed 2.8% with 48 tickers hitting the daily trading ceiling as investors were spurred by Tuesday’s gain, causing trading turnover on HOSE to jump to an eight-session high of USD714.4mn.

* Banks continued their momentum from the previous session, led by VPB (+5.0%), VCB (+1.8%), BID (+3.4%), MBB (+4.5%) and TCB (+3.5%).

* FPT (+6.9%) soared to the trading ceiling.

* VNM (+4.5%), MWG (+4.3%) and GAS (+2.5%) have jumped 8.4%, 6.3% and 4.7% over the last two days, respectively.

* Steelmaker HPG (-1.3%) was the top contributing laggard for the second day in a row and extended its losing streak to five sessions.
