Market wrap: VN-Index increases 1.3%, finishes week up 3.2%
The VN-Index increased for the fifth straight day, gaining 1.3% on Friday as investor sentiment was boosted by positive earnings results from several companies. For the week, the VN-Index climbed 3.2%, snapping a three-week losing streak. However, the VN-Index dropped 7% for the month of July, marking its first negative month since January.
- Banks continued their recent uptrend, led by VPB (+5.7%), ACB (+5.9%), CTG (+1.5%), MBB (+1.8%), TCB (+1.0%) and LPB (+6.2%).
- MSN (+4.9%) increased for the second day in a row, finishing the week up 12.6% and the month up 21.3%.
- HVN (+7.0%) rocketed to the daily trading ceiling for the second consecutive session. Conversely, fellow airline VJC (-1.2%) declined.
- GVR (+1.7%) gained 8.7% for the week.
