Market wrap: VN-Index inches down, Vingroup stocks drop
The VN-Index closed down by three-tenths of a percent on Friday, ending a three-day winning streak as trading turnover on HOSE jumped 25% from the previous trading day to USD657.9mn. For the week, the index inched up by less than a tenth of a percent.
* Vingroup tickers weighed heavily on the index. VIC (-3.6%) was the top contributor to the day’s loss, and its subsidiaries VHM (-2.8%) and VRE (-6.1%) also dropped.
* Banks were mixed. TCB (-1.2%), STB (-2.1%) and EIB (-2.1%) declined. On the other hand, VPB (+1.6%) and HDB (+3.3%) were among the day’s top contributing gainers.
* Food & beverage players MSN (-4.8%) and SAB (-1.1%) fell.
* Steelmakers HPG (+5.4%) and HSG (+6.7%) surged.
* HVN (+6.0%) gained 28.5% for the week.
