Market wrap: VN-Index gains despite low trading volume
The VN-Index rose by 1.1% on Wednesday, for a second consecutive daily gain after Monday’s sell-off. Trading liquidity of the HOSE remained at a low level of USD452 million.
* The financials sector traded mixed with rallies from BID, VCB, CTG and VPB and losses from TCB, HDB and SSI. However, it was still the biggest contributor to the gain in the VN-Index.
* Large-caps in the consumer staples sector rose, including SAB, MSN, VNM and KDC.
* Real estate stocks showed differentiated performance as VRE and VHM rose and KBC and PDR surged limit up but NVL, DXG, VPI and SZL closed in negative territory.
* Most energy tickers performed well, including PLX, PVT, PVD, PGC and CNG.
