Market wrap: VN-Index finishes flat following GDP result
The VN-Index finished nearly unchanged on Wednesday, closing down by just a hundredth of a percent as investor sentiment was cautious following the announcement that Vietnam’s GDP dropped 6.17% YoY in Q3 2021.
- Banks CTG (-1.8%), VCB (-0.7%), VPB (-1.2%), TCB (-0.8%), STB (-2.8%) and BID (-0.5%) were all among the day’s top contributing decliners.
- Chemical manufacturer DGC (-5.9%) slumped to its lowest share price since September 17.
- MSN (+3.7%) climbed for the second day in a row and was the leading contributor among gainers.
- Energy tickers continued to perform well. GAS (+1.8%) and PLX (+1.8%) have advanced 7.6% and 3.8%, respectively, in the last two trading sessions. In addition, POW (+3.8%) jumped to a three-week high.
- Fertilizer producers DPM (+6.9%) and DCM (+6.9%) both surged to the daily trading ceiling.
