Market wrap: VN-Index erases Thursday’s gain, falls 2.3% for week
The VN-Index plunged at the end of Friday’s session, closing down 1.9% as investors sold shares after HCMC authorities announced that social distancing measures under Directive 16 will be extended to August 1. In addition, the VN-Index dropped 2.3% for the week, marking its third straight weekly loss.
- Banks VCB (-3.3%), TCB (-3.1%), VPB (-3.8%), CTG (-3.0%), BID (-1.9%) and ACB (-3.2%) were all among the day’s top contributing laggards. Conversely, STB (+2.5%) increased for the second day in a row.
- VHM (-3.1%) and VIC (-2.1%) both snapped three-session winning streaks.
- Other notable decliners included HPG (-3.0%) and MSN (-3.2%).
- DGC (+6.9%) soared to the daily trading ceiling, finishing the week up 12.5%.
