Market wrap: VN-Index edges down to start September

The VN-Index decreased two-tenths of a percent on Monday with 21 of the VN30 Index’s components finishing in the red as investor sentiment remained cautious after the long holiday weekend. 

* VCB (-1.7%) was the top contributor to the day’s loss. Fellow banks BID (-1.2%), VPB (-1.6%), CTG (-1.1%), TCB (-0.9%) and VPB (-1.8%) also declined. 

* Other notable decliners included MWG (-2.0%) and VJC (-1.3%). 

* Steelmaker HPG (+3.9%) and dairy manufacturer VNM (+3.6%) were the day’s top two contributing gainers.
