Market wrap: VN-Index drops to start new week, led by VIC

The VN-Index closed down by six tenths of a percent on Monday as strong performances from steel and fertilizer tickers could not offset losses in the real estate and banking sectors.

*  VIC (-2.6%) slumped to a 52-week low and was the top contributor to the day’s loss. Vingroup subsidiaries VHM (-1.0%) and VRE (-1.5%) also decreased.

*  Bank tickers BID (-1.9%), CTG (-2.1%) and SSB (-2.5%) dropped.

*  Airlines VJC (-3.4%) and HVN (-2.1%) were down.

*  HPG (+2.8%) was the day’s top contributing gainer. Additionally, fellow steelmaker HSG (+7.0%) soared to the daily ceiling.

*  Fertilizer manufacturers DPM (+6.9%) and DCM (+6.9%) have surged 21.5% and 22.9%, respectively, over the last four trading sessions.
