Market wrap: VN-Index drops for second straight day

The VN-Index fell three-tenths of a percent on Friday as 22 of the large-cap VN30 Index’s components finished in the red. For the week, the VN-Index climbed by a half of a percent, marking its sixth straight weekly gain. 

* VHM (-1.6%) was the top contributor to the day’s loss. 

* Among bank tickers, VCB (-0.7%), CTG (-1.7%), BID (-0.6%), HDB (-2.0%) and ACB (-1.2%) fell. On the other hand, VPB (+4.0%) jumped to a 10-week high and was the day’s leading contributing gainer. 

* Steelmaker HPG (-1.7%) fell for the third day in a row. 

* VGC (+7.0%) soared to the daily trading ceiling, hitting an all-time high.
