The VN-Index plummeted 3.44% on Monday and closed below the psychological level of 1,000. However, trading turnover on the HOSE remained at a low level of USD422 million.

* The financials sector was the biggest contributor to the loss in the VN-Index, led by sharp declines from VPB, CTG, TCB and MBB.

* Most real estate tickers fell, including VHM, VIC, VRE and KDH. Notably, some midcap names in this sector closed at limit down, including NVL, PDR, DXG, DIG, KBC and SZC.

* Consumer stocks dropped, including MSN, SAB, MWG, FRT and PNJ.

* GAS was the only ticker in the VN30 index that increased, which helped the utilities sector to out-perform the market.
