Market wrap: VN-Index continues to trade sideways

The VN-Index was up as much as a half of a percent on early Friday afternoon; however, the 1,400-point threshold continued to be a psychological resistance level for investors, causing the index to ultimately close down by less than a tenth of a percent. For the week, the VN-Index gained 1.4%.

*  VPB (+1.5%) recorded its third straight positive session and was the day’s top contributing gainer. Fellow banks OCB (+4.7%) and STB (+1.7%) also increased. Conversely, SHB (-5.0%) was the day’s top contributing laggard as it dropped for the fourth day in a row.

*  Steel manufacturers HSG (+2.7%), NKG (+5.3%) and HPG (+0.9%) climbed.

*  Airlines VJC (-2.0%) and HVN (-0.9%) declined.
