Market wrap: Vingroup tickers, banks lift VN-Index to 14-week high
The VN-Index jumped 1.6% on Monday — marking its sixth straight positive session and a 14-week high — as investors focused on picking up shares of bank stocks in response to positive expectations for that sector’s third quarter performance.
- The Vingroup family of stocks had a strong day. VIC (+2.9%) was the top contributor to the day’s gain while VHM (+1.4%) and VRE (+4.5%) both ended two-session losing streaks.
- The banking sector surged, led by TCB (+4.5%), CTG (+5.3%), MBB (+4.0%), BID (+2.0%) and ACB (+3.7%).
- Steelmaker HPG (+2.7%) advanced to a 52-week high.
