Market wrap: VIC, VHM lead VN-Index to four-week high
The VN-Index jumped 1.4% on Tuesday, marking its seventh consecutive positive session and reaching a four-week high as investor sentiment was boosted due to the rapid deployment of COVID-19 vaccines in HCMC and other major cities.
- Conglomerate VIC (+6.5%) and its subsidiary VHM (+2.6%) were the top two contributors to the day’s gain. Vingroup’s other listed subsidiary VRE (+2.9%) also climbed.
- Following the banking sector’s slump on Monday, nearly all bank stocks gained, including VCB (+1.9%), TCB (+2.0%), BID (+1.9%), MBB (+1.7%), CTG (+1.0%) and EIB (+4.6%).
- MSN (+1.2%) has advanced 10.7% over the last four trading sessions.
- Airline HVN (-2.2%) retreated following its nearly 21% gain in the previous three sessions.
