Market wrap: Stocks fall, but VN-Index posts weekly gain of 1.3%

The VN-Index dropped at the end of trading on Friday to close down by three tenths of a percent as trading turnover on HOSE slumped to USD464.4mn. Nevertheless, the VN-Index finished the week up 1.3%. 

*    Conglomerate VIC (-2.9%) was the leading contributor to the day’s loss. 

*    Most banks were down, led by BID (-2.7%), CTG (-2.2%), ACB (-1.2%) and SHB (-2.0%). However, VIB (+4.4%) jumped and gained 8.0% for the week. 

*    VNM (-1.6%) snapped a four-day winning streak. 

*    GAS (+3.5%) and MSN (+2.8%) concluded the week up 10.6% and 7.2%, respectively. 

*    Industrial real estate developer BCM (+6.9%) surged to the daily trading ceiling.
