Market wrap: Stocks edge up, VN-Index gains for third consecutive day

The VN-Index edged up by less than a tenth of a percent on Thursday, marking its third straight positive session, as investor sentiment was cautious following news of the general director of HOSE and chairman of the State Securities Commission being expelled from the Party amid investigations by the Ministry of Public Security into stock exchange violations (as reported by VnExpress).

* MSN (+7.0%) surged to the daily trading for the third day in a row and was the top contributor to the day’s gain.

* Chemical manufacturer DGC (+5.9%) has jumped 19.4% over the last three trading sessions.

* VNM (-1.8%) snapped a two-day winning streak and was the day’s top contributing decliner.

* Several banks were down, including CTG (-1.9%), VPB (-1.6%), TPB (-3.3%), EIB (-3.5%), BID (-0.7%) and VIB (-3.0%). On the other hand, OCB (+6.6%) and SHB (+4.0%) experienced strong gains.
