Market wrap: Stocks climb for second straight day, but VN-Index falls 2.3% for week

The VN-Index advanced four tenths of a percent on Friday as investors continued to buy stocks after the index dropped to a 16-month low on Wednesday. Despite the VN-Index climbing for the second straight day, it finished the week down 2.3%. 

* HPG (+3.2%) increased for the second day in a row and was the day’s top contributing gainer. 

* GAS (+1.6%) snapped a six-session losing streak. 

* MSN (+1.8%) jumped 4.9% over the last two sessions; however, it fell 4.2% on the week. 

* Fertilizer manufacturers DPM (+5.4%) and DCM (+6.1%) experienced strong gains. 

* On the negative side, banks VCB (-2.0%), BID (-3.6%), CTG (-1.5%), HDB (-1.2%) and TPB (-1.3%) were among the day’s top contributing laggards.
