Market wrap: Stocks climb 1.2%, but VN-Index finishes April down 8.4%
The VN-Index climbed 1.2% on Friday thanks to strong Q1 2022 earnings results from several companies. Nevertheless, the VN-Index fell nine tenths of a percent for the week, marking its fourth straight weekly loss. For the month of April, the VN-Index dropped 8.4% — its largest monthly decline since March 2020.
* VIC (+2.7%) was the leading contributor to the day’s gain. In addition, Vingroup subsidiaries VRE (+3.5%) and VHM (+0.8%) advanced.
* Most banks performed well, including TCB (+4.0%), ACB (+4.0%), BID (+1.5%) and VIB (+3.9%). However, VCB (-0.7%), CTG (-1.8%) and SSB (-1.3%) were among the day’s top contributing laggards.
* Industrial real estate developer BCM (+3.5%) gained 13.8% for the week.
* On the negative side, GAS (-1.6%) and SAB (-1.8%) both fell for the second day in a row.
