Market wrap: Slumping bank tickers hold back VN-Index’s gain 

The VN-Index advanced three tenths of a percent on Monday despite the banking sector extending its recent slump due to investor concerns over a potential increase in bad debt and the sector’s overall performance moving forward.  

  • Bank stocks were down across the board, led by CTG (-3.5%), VCB (-1.4%), TCB (-1.3%), VPB (-1.4%), VIB (-3.1%), ACB (-1.6%), MBB (-1.3%) and EIB (-3.3%). 
  • HPG (+3.9%) was the day’s top contributing gainer. 
  • VJC (+2.3%) climbed to a 25-week high. Fellow airline HVN (+4.0%) also increased. 
  • REE (+5.9%) has surged 12.6% over the last five trading sessions.
