Market wrap: Securities brokerages gain, but VN-Index edges down

The VN-Index edged down by a tenth of a percent on Friday as investor sentiment was cautious following the index’s sudden decrease at the end of the previous trading session. For the week, the VN-Index gained half of a percent. 

* Banks had a mixed day. VCB (-1.3%) was the top contributor to the day’s loss. HDB (-1.0%) and LPB (-1.7%) also declined. Conversely, SHB (+2.2%), OCB (+3.0%) and STB (+1.4%) finished higher. 

* VHM (-1.0%) fell for the second day in a row.  

* HPG (-1.4%) dropped for the first time since March 28. 

* GVR (+1.9%) was the day’s top contributing gainer. 

* Securities brokerages were strong as SSI (+3.0%), VCI (+3.0%), HCM (1.7%) and VND (+1.0%) advanced.
