Market wrap: Low trading liquidity prior to the Christmas weekend

The VN-Index slid by 0.22% on Friday due to a late sell-off at the ATC session and closed at 1,020.34. Trading liquidity on the HOSE fell to a low level at USD385.5 million.

* The financials sector was the biggest contributor to the loss in the VN-Index as SSI, MBB, VCB and VPB dropped.

* Steel tickers plummeted, including HPG, HSG and NKG. In contrast, construction stocks, such as VCG, CTD and HBC gained and out-performed the VN-Index.

* The real estate sector traded mixed with gains from VHM, VIC, PDR and SJS and losses from NVL, VRE, KDH and CRE.

* The power sector performed well due to rallies at NT2, POW, VSH, GEG and CHP.
