Market wrap: GAS pulls VN-Index to sixth straight positive session
The VN-Index experienced positive momentum in early afternoon trading on Monday before slumping in the final hour of the session to finish the day up just three tenths of a percent, marking its sixth straight positive session.
- GAS (+4.3%) jumped to a one-month high and was the top contributor to the day’s gain.
- After broad gains last Thursday and Friday, the banking sector stumbled with several tickers falling, including VCB (-1.0%), CTG (-1.9%), ACB (-1.7%), VPB (-1.0%), STB (-1.0%) and EIB (-2.3%). BID (+3.5%) was a notable exception as it climbed to its highest share price since July 14.
- Retailer MWG (+3.5%) has gained 8.1% over the last three trading sessions.
- HVN (+5.8%) hit a four-month high as it has soared nearly 21% in the past three sessions. Fellow airline VJC (+2.2%) also advanced.
