Market wrap: GAS, banks lead VN-Index to eight-week high

The VN-Index jumped 1.1% on Tuesday, hitting an eight-week high as investors picked up shares of financial tickers after the sector’s recent slump.  

• GAS (+4.8%) continued its hot streak following the rally of global oil prices. 
• Banks bounced back with CTG (+2.8%), VCB (+1.1%), STB (+6.0%), TCB (+1.5%) and VIB (+3.6%) posting significant gains. 
• Securities brokerages VCI (+6.8%), SSI (+6.0%), VND (+4.3%) and HCM (+3.9%) soared. 
• In the real estate sector, VHM (+1.8%), NVL (+2.3%) and VIC (+0.9%) increased. Conversely, PDR (-1.5%) snapped a three-session winning streak. 
• VNM (-0.7%) was the day’s top contributor among decliners.
