Market wrap: Banks continue to fall, VN-Index drops for third straight session

The VN-Index dropped 1.2% on Tuesday as the banking sector continued to decline following the plunge of bank stocks on Wall Street overnight.

* Banks BID (-2.6%), TCB (-1.7%), ACB (-1.8%), CTG (-1.0%) and MBB (-1.7%) were among the top contributors to the day’s loss.

* HPG (-3.8%) dropped as its trading volume surged to nearly 31 million shares. Fellow steelmakers NKG (-5.8%) and HSG (-4.0%) also dropped.

* MSN (-1.1%) fell for the first time in five trading days.

* SAB (+1.6%) was the day’s top contributing gainer.
