Market wrap: Bank tickers slide, VN-Index falls 0.8% 


The VN-Index declined by eight tenths of a percent on Thursday as many banking tickers decreased. 


* VCB (-1.9%) snapped a four-session winning streak and was the top contributor to the day’s loss. Several other banks also dropped, including VPB (-1.9%), BID (-1.3%), TCB (-1.2%) and MBB (-1.4%). Meanwhile, ACB (+1.8%) was a bright spot in the sector. 


* Steelmaker HPG (-3.5%) has slipped 6.5% over the past three days. 


* GAS (-1.7%) cooled off after jumping 10% in the previous two trading sessions. 


* VHM (-1.1%) ended a seven-session winning streak. On the other hand, fellow real estate developer NVL (+1.1%) advanced. 


* Retailers MWG (+1.5%) and PNJ (+5.0%) climbed.
