Market wrap: 221 tickers plummet to trading floor, VN-Index drops 4.5% 

The VN-Index plunged 4.5% on Monday and hit a one-year low of 1,269.62 with 221 tickers hitting the daily trading floor, mirroring other Asian markets that tumbled due to continuing COVID-19 lockdowns in China and their impact on economic growth. 

*  Bank tickers weighed heavily on the market as BID (-6.9%), VPB (-6.9%), TCB (-7.0%), CTG (-6.8%), VCB (-1.9%) and MBB (-6.4%) were all among the day’s top 10 contributing laggards. 

*  GAS (-4.5%) ended a three-session winning streak. In addition, petroleum distributor PLX (-7.0%) has dropped 12.4% over the last three sessions. 

*  MWG (-7.0%) has pulled back nearly 15% since hitting an all-time high on April 15.
