Market wrap: VN-Index reverses in afternoon to close up 0.9% 

The VN-Index was down as much as 1.8% on Wednesday before it soared in the final 90 minutes of trading to close up by nine tenths of a percent; however, trading turnover on HOSE slumped to a nine-month low of USD638.7mn as investor sentiment has been dampened by the market’s recent downturn. 

*  Steelmaker HPG (+3.2%) increased for the second day in a row and was the leading contributor to the day’s gain. 

*  Banks were mostly up, led by VCB (+1.2%), CTG (+2.3%), STB (+2.9%), BID (+0.8%) and MBB (+1.2%). On the other hand, VPB (-1.2%) retreated after soaring 6.2% on Tuesday. 

*  GAS (+1.8%) has gained 6.2% over the past two days. 

*  Large caps VNM (-1.2%), VRE (-1.8%), FPT (-1.2%) and MWG (-1.1%) were among the day’s top contributing laggards. 

*  Fertilizer manufacturers DCM (-3.4%) and DPM (-2.1%) dropped.
