G-bond issuance improved in May
- In May, G-bond issuance rose 5.8% MoM to VND24.1tn (USD945.2mn) after dropping 30.1% in April. In Q2 2024, the VST issued VND46.8tn (USD1.8bn) of G-bonds, fulfilling 39.0% of its Q2 plan. In 5M 2024, the VST issued VND127.0tn (USD5.0bn) of G-bonds, completing 31.8% of its full-year target.
- In the secondary market, average daily trading value (ADTV) increased 7.9% MoM to VND9.9tn (USD389.6mn) after dropping 21.0% MoM in April.
- In the latest auctions in May, 5Y, 10Y, and 15Y yields in the primary market were 1.8% (+19 bps MoM), 2.66% (+16 bps MoM), and 2.83% (+15 bps MoM), respectively. Meanwhile, yields in the secondary market were little changed with yields of 5Y, 10Y, and 15Y at 2.04% (-5 bps MoM) 2.85% (+6 bps MoM) and 3.02% (+3 bps MoM).
