On 18-19 March 2013, we visited BIDV Insurance, Vietnam National Reinsurance, Military Bank and Vietcombank. The insurance companies share a common concern of being unable to diversify their investment portfolios because of limited investment options in Vietnam. Currently, around 60-70% of their investment portfolio is stashed in bank deposits earning 8%-10%.
